In November 1969, Sesame Workshop started with a single bold question: could television be used to educate kids? With a barrier-breaking cast, deep early childhood education expertise, and the unforgettable Muppets of Sesame Street, our founders, Joan Ganz Cooney and Lloyd Morrisett, set out to do just that.
